REVIEW: Cesarean Section at Balayan Bayview Medical Center

Cesarean Section, anyone? Hearing this procedure, the first thing that you will think of is the price of the procedure. We all know how expensive this is. Enough to shrink your budget. Hah!

The first time that I found out that I am an expecting mom, I scouted for hospitals and inquired about their price. The first hospital that I have inquired to informed me that I have to prepare around forty to sixty thousand pesos (40,000 - 60, 000 PHP) for the delivery fee. That's one of a hefty amount. Luckily, my mother found out that there is a private hospital who offer a much lower fee for C-section and that is Balayan Bayview Medical Center located in Balayan, Batangas. I gave birth to a healthy baby boy last July and now I am posting this review for those who are also looking for a hospital where they can have their CS without shelling out too much money.

So here is my review of the procedure and my general experience in this hospital. I included the other areas since I know some of you would want to know how are the other aspects of their services.

♦ Procedure
The procedure went smooth. In just an hour and half, I am out of the operating room. The only thing that took so long was my stay in the recovery room. Plus, after giving me the pain reliever shot, I began sweating like crazy that I have to ask the nurse to give me an electric fan since I can't stand the heat and I started having minimal head aches.

Rating: 5/5

♦ Physicians
My attending ob-gynecologist, Dr. Brishelbea Sarabia, is nice and accommodating. Apart from that, she is really a capable doctor. Dra. Sarabia have this warm smile on her face that will make you feel that you and your baby will have a safe delivery. Moreover, she even rectify my stitches from a previous cesarean procedure so a BIG thanks to her.

Rating: 5/5

♦ Staff
Based on my assessment, all the nurses who were on duty that time were capable and knows what they are doing. They were able to answer my questions whenever I have one and were also very attentive when you need something. You won't be worrying about their capabilities in caring for the patients.

Rating: 5/5

♦ Housekeeping
I really wish that they do housekeeping at least twice a day. Since you'll be staying in a 3-bed room, garbage tend to pile up easily. I also wish that they collect the garbage from time to time and strictly reinforce segregation.

Rating: 3/5

♦ Room

If you're going to avail the package, expect it that you'll be staying in a semi-private room with 2-3 beds in it. Not enough room to move around especially if the other mommies who gave birth have a lot of visitors going in and out of the room. This also means that you won't have privacy when breastfeeding your newborn. However, you have the option to use a private room for an additional fee of course.

Rating: 3/5

♦ Operating Theater
Overall, it is clean and well-maintained. However, I wish the recovery room is air-conditioned.

Rating: 4.5/5

♦ Price
BBMC offered the cheapest fee that I have encountered. As of writing, the C-section fee is only twenty-one thousand pesos (21,000 PHP) provided that you have PhilHealth. Fear not, eventho it is much cheaper than the other hospitals, you will not get poor service. I think I really got a good deal with this as I was able to have my bilateral tubal ligation with no additional fee.

Rating: 5/5

Rest assured that the review is unbiased and is solely based on my experience with them. I gave birth at this hospital and had my second son hospitalized there due to neonatal sepsis (that's another story!~~)
